Wow, I have no idea how it happened but I'm SOOO behind I feel like I may never catch up! I am going to start blogging about wish list worthy products and my first site is My Funky Camera. I have a bridal session this morning and its currently 18 degrees!!! The poor girl has a strapless dress! I feel so sorry for her. Of course I have the new studio but its in total renovation right now! I thought maybe I'd go try to get a few creative, full length images and then maybe we could head to my studio just to do some head shots or 3/4 body and up - I do have one usable wall but the floors aren't done so we can't do full length there, lol! I hope we can manage some great ones wherever we end up!

And so begins the season of me incessantly worrying about my loved ones' safety. My husband called me on the way to work saying he was only going 30 mph because the interstate was pure ice. This happens to be a huge source of anxiety in my life. Maybe its time to move somewhere that it doesn't snow, lol! I hope everyone is safe!

So this year I signed up to participate in NANO (National Novel Writing) Month but it looks like I'm not going to get very far. I have been so insanely busy preparing for my exhibit, looking for a studio, working my sessions, and then of course all of my family/home obligations, lol! But at least I took that first step this year and maybe next year I can be prepared for it because this is something I really want to take part in! This morning it was snowing. I got to hold my 18 month old daughter Scarlet up and show her snow for the first since she's old enough to really notice. She keeps saying, "snow? snow?" I can't wait to see how excited she'll be at Christmas time this year - so much fun!

Today I'm shooting a wedding for an old friend - the whole bridal party is made up of old friends, girls I used to manage in a retail shop years ago.I'm super excited to catch the moments of this day among so many friends! I spent a very brief amount of time in the new studio last night and I'm getting more and more excited about it. Michelle and I have worked our butts off for this for the last 3 years and I'm looking forward to what this next year is going to bring!

My sister moved about 45 minutes away and though that's not too far she is incredibly busy as am I. But yesterday I loaded up the kids and drove to Columbus to visit both my mom and sister in their new vintage shop, CoCoCouture. I have been asked to show 8 pieces in an all female art show in Detroit on Thanksgiving eve. I feel honored to have been asked and also very excited to be able to show some of my more personal work. I hate that I will not be waking up with my girls on Thanksgiving morning but I will be home by noon, which is right in time to eat with them that day! I just hate to pass up this opportunity because its something I may never experience again.

Ahhh....so its the beginning of November and I can feel it getting colder and colder out there. And in here, lol! And this always means its time to call Amerigas so they can wipe out my account for propane, lol! Luckily we also have a woodburner but there isn't always wood at the ready. This also means that the on location shoots tend to slow way down or stop altogether. Thankfully I will have studio to work in this winter. As someone who HATES being cold, getting the studio ready and getting back to work gives me something to look forward to this cold season!

News

So, Michelle Black (my wedding business partner) and I have put a deposit on our first studio this morning! We have always preferred on location work but the cold weather is sneaking up on us and if we want to continue working then we had to start thinking about alternatives to our location shooting. I looked at the space today and Michelle will confirm it on Wednesday. I can see it now - consultations, lots of lighting, lots of art, and art show/studio parties! WE have worked hard to get here and I'm super excited about what the future holds!
